Common Mistakes Made in Poker

Posted in Fun Links, Internet Games, Virtual Gambling by admin on the September 3rd, 2010

Common Mistakes Made in Poker All online poker players make mistakes sometimes, even the pros. Learning what the most common mistakes are and avoiding falling into these pitfalls will improve your poker online game and profits. One common mistake is to simply play your cards by the book and not attempt any bluffs. It makes you too easy to read and people will not call your bets if you only play good cards. Look for a few opportunities to put out a naked or semi-bluff when the betting is low and you can go to showdown fairly cheaply to show your bluff. Another common Everest mistake is to place too much value on a hand that is only top pair. Sure, this hand does win sometimes, but is easily beat also. When holding top pair, always be alert to the fact that another player could be betting two pairs or a set. When you raise in No-Limit poker, be sure not to under-bet the pot. You want those who are on a draw to have pay a high price to see another card. Under-bets breed bad beats. Don’t be a calling station and donk off your chips. Recognize when your hand is beat. When you go up against a calling station, don’t even attempt to bluff. Instead put out value bets to build the pot. There is tendency to tighten up toward late stages of tournaments. Instead of going on the defensive with tight play, look for opportunities to aggressively steal pots from tight players. Avoid telegraphing your hand with tells - little clues that indicate whether you are strong or weak, like reaching for your chips after seeing your pocket cards. Do look for tells from other players, and even use them yourself consciously to deceive your opponents.

Players to Find

Posted in Fun Links, Internet Games, Virtual Gambling by admin on the August 24th, 2010

When you’re playing poker at Everest Poker telecharger, the better you know your opponents, the better you’ll be able to play against them. Ideally, you’ll get the chance to get a read on all of your opponents, but when you first sit down at a table, there are a few players that you need to identify as soon as you can. Some because they’re easy to beat, and some because they can be difficult to beat. Here are a few opponents to keep an eye out for.

1. The Loose Player. You can spot a loose player pretty quickly because he’s the guy who seems to play every hand. You might find yourself thinking “he can’t possibly have that many good hands” when you see a loose player, and you’ll be right. Count on him playing crummy hands and bet into him when he misses the flop.

2. The Aggressive Poker Player. These guys rarely limp in; they always come into a hand with a raise and they are never happy checking or merealy calling a bet. Don’t count on seeing any free cards when you’re in the hand with an aggressor, and be especially careful when bluffing one, because these guys are likely to reraise you.

3. The Calling Station. These guys are great when you’ve got a winning hand, because their pride (or optimism) won’t allow them to fold. Once you spot someone who won’t back down, wait until you’ve got a winning hand against him and bet, bet, bet.

Know Your Opponents

Posted in Fun Links, Internet Games, Virtual Gambling by admin on the July 27th, 2010

By now I’m sure that you’ve heard that getting to know your opponents is one of the most important parts of playing poker online games, sometimes more important than the cards that you’re holding. In fact, I can’t think of a time when it’s better to be ignorant of who your opponents are and how they play. Knowing your opponents is like the Leatherman Tool of poker online-it’ll help you out in so many ways.

Before the flop, knowing your opponents will help you determine whether or not your cards are worth playing. If your opponents are more aggressive and are likely to raise before the flop, then you’re going to only want to play really strong starting hands, but if they’re more passive, you’ll probably be able to limp in with weaker hands and still see the flop, or you may be able to bet into the pot and buy a few blinds without seeing the flop at all.

Once the community cards start coming out, knowing your opponents can help you to determine the value of your opponents’ cards through their actions combined with the community cards. If a scare flop comes out and an opponent raises, you may not want to fold right away. If you’ve got a decent hand and you know that he’s a fan of buying up pots, you may want to call his bet.

Knowing what your opponents tend to do will give you an advantage when making decisions. Pay attention and try to get a bead on your opponents’ playing styles and personalities when you sit down at a Everest Poker table.

Tight Aggressive Taken Too Far

Posted in Fun Links, Internet Games, Virtual Gambling by admin on the June 15th, 2010

Poker playing pundits often recommend that tight aggressive play has the best profit outcome. However, tight aggressive play can be taken too far and instead put the TAG player in limbo, always treading water.

TAG players rarely enter a pot, and when they do, it is with a raise. The only drawback to this approach is that the TAG style is so easy to read. Any mildly observant opponent will notice this, and so a TAG player is not going to get a lot of action for a good hand.

How can you avoid falling into the TAG trap? First of all, stop equating loose with bad, and tight with good. Sometimes loose online poker play is the right choice. Then make a conscious decision to loosen up your starting hand range at times based on position and the players behind you.

Turn your focus to maximizing profits instead of guarding against losses. Making a big aggressive bet every 15 hands or so will probably prevent slow leaks in your game, but it will diminish the possibility of monster pots coming to you.

If you are too much of a TAG, then stop playing poker by the book and instead concentrate on the situation at hand. Players can get caught in a rut of just sticking to the same hands and plays. Be willing to mix up your play now and then to make yourself less predictable. Look for cheap opportunities to take a bluff to showdown to let others know you sometimes are reckless and loose too.

Posted in Education Online, Fun Links, Tuition Management by admin on the May 13th, 2010

In fact at any point in life, if you feel that you don’t want it anymore then you can resell it to the same college or the shop and you can guarantee that there will be takers for it. You can buy or rent the gowns ideally from the university campus itself but just in case if it is not available in the campus premises then there are lot of stores outside who specialize in selling these caps and gowns. Beating Tight and Passive Players

Posted in Fun Links, Internet Games, Virtual Gambling by admin on the May 6th, 2010

Tight and passive poker online players can seem tough to beat-they don’t seem to play anything but the very best hands, so it’s hard to beat them when they have a lot of money in the pot.

I used to hate playing these guys, because it was tough to wring any chips from their stack. However, once I learned the value of the blind steal, playing against tight and passive players became a lot more lucrative.

Tight and passive poker online players rarely like to bet unless they’ve got a solid starting hand, and even then, if it doesn’t hit the flop, they’re likely to fold their cards and wait for the next hand. Since they rarely go to the river with anything but the nuts, you won’t be winning many big pots from these guys, but their tentative nature makes it easy to chip away at their stacks with preflop raises and continuation bets.

If you’re at a table full of tight passive poker online players, loosen up your game a bit. Since they won’t always get the cards that they like, tight and passive players have a tendency to fold before the flop, and even if you’re called, they still may miss the flop and fold to a continuation bet, and if you get called by a tight, passive player, you can fold your hand with confidence that you made the right move.

Sometimes at the Table

Posted in Fun Links, Internet Games, Virtual Gambling by admin on the March 16th, 2010

Sometimes at the poker table, when things aren’t going your way and it seems like nothing you do is working, you get desperate and make some stupid move. And occasionally, miraculously, that move pays off.

I was playing recently, at a famous, well-known casino on the east coast of the United States. It was one of the worst sessions I can remember having. It started off okay, I won two pots with timely bluffs, but after that everything went downhill. None of my bluffs were working; I tried playing good hands, bad hands, raising our of position to confuse people, anything really, and it wasn’t working. It was quite frustrating.

So, at one point I decided I wasn’t going to see my chips stack whittled away slowly, I and was just going to go for it. I decided that the next person who raised, I was going to re raise them all in without even looking at my hand. I know, it sounds incredibly dumb, and it probably is. But at the time I was thinking, you know what nothing else is working so I might as well go for blind luck.

So the next hand someone raised in front of me, and I reraised all in. I turned over my cards and was dismayed to see a 2-8. Oh well, I thought, today isn’t my day. To make matters worse, my online poker opponent, who called for some reason, had a 10-8! Why would he call my reraise with a 10-8?? Well, it didn’t matter, he did.

Anyway, all of us at the table had a big chuckles when the flop came 8-2-J. The turn and river were blanks and my ridiculous hand had held up. Like I always say, it’s better to be lucky than good when I play poker online.

Feeling Projection at the Poker Table

Posted in Fun Links, Internet Games, Virtual Gambling by admin on the March 1st, 2010

In our modern online poker culture we often borrow terms and concepts from psychology to enlighten our play. One of the newest psychological concepts to hit the online poker table is feeling projection. Therapist use this term to define the kind of attitude that people project. When someone walks into a room and you can instantly tell whether they are happy or sad you are experiencing feeling projection. Feeling projection is normally not a problem in casual circumstances. It can be a problem, however, when you are trying to hide your emotions from your fellow poker players.

Understanding feeling projection in poker online, therefore, is a matter of both recognizing this process and taking steps to correct it. In traditional therapy, psychologists suggest that patients regulate feeling projection through a whole bevy of tricks like counting to ten to grasp their emotions before they enter new circumstances. You can take this general idea of regulating your emotional projection and apply it to poker. Be conscious of how you project emotions. Try calming down if you are upset, or getting more excited if you are a little too laid back. What you project is often the only information that the other players have, don’t give them more information than they need.
