Getting Noticed at Job Faires

Posted in Aid, Bestsellers, Blog News by admin on the February 11th, 2010

Standing out at a Job Faire can make a difference in your job hunt. Job Faires are starting to pick up, and a major job search company is running some nice ones, called Targeted Job Fairs. At a SF Bay Area Career Faire in early 2010, 10 companies as showing up, and a major job search company has 82 career faires scheduled for 2010 across the United States.

How do you stand out at a Career Fair? The competition can be substantial, but you can help yourself jump out from the bunch with early preparation. At AA-Careers, we have a straight-forward 6-step process to prepare. Planning to go? Here’s how to prepare:

First, research the organizations that are going and pick your objectives. Use the web to research the companies that are there ahead of time. Go to their sites and see if they have their jobs posted. Pick a sound number to go after, and get ready to spend an hour researching each one. It’s hard to do more than 9 in a day, and three or four is a much more reasonable target. For each hiring company, you want to know: recent news, key product lines, and exectuve names. Try to see if you know anyone at the target companies. You’ll end up with a page or two of research for each company/job.

Second, if there are job postings on the web, read them to see what the company is looking for. Create a mapping of your accomplishments and skills to the prerequisites of the job. Make the language match. If the hiring organization calls customers "clients", your resume should do the same thing. The achievements should be written in the style of the hiring organization.

Third, create a ‘thumbnail sales pitch’ for each potential company/position combination. Write down a 90 second ‘thumbnail’ that you can repeat verbally depicting why you are a fantastic candidate for that position. You’ll use this in your resume and when you meet the team from the company at the job stall.

Fourth, modify your resume for each job type. The objective on your resume should exactly match the position you’re targeting. The executive summary should be a written form of your “mini sales pitch” for the job. Then choose the accomplishments and skills that most clearly match the job prerequisites. Especially at a Job Faire, the purpose of your resume is a sales tool for you – to get you on-site job interviews. It should be simple to see that you’re a match based on your resume.

Fifth, practice your ‘mini-sales-pitch’. Collect your research and the resume for each position - bring a couple of copies for each – and put each in a distinctly labeled folder. Keep them in a light briefcase or folio.

Finally, dress and prepare as if you’re doing on-site interviews. Dress nicely and be properly groomed. Avoid strong cologne or perfume…use any eau de cologne or fragrance sparingly, if at all.

Remember to smile, and good hunting!

Resurrection Is Reincarnation

Posted in Baker's Dozen, Bestsellers, Religion Portal by admin on the October 15th, 2008

Excerpts of the Third Testament

The mystery of the resurrection of the flesh has been clarified by the revelation of the reincarnation of the spirit. Today you realise that the goal of this law of love and justice is for the perfection of the spirit, so that he will never be lost, because he will always find an open door as an opportunity which the Father offers toward his salvation.

My judgment for every spirit, by reason of this law, is perfect and inexorable.

Only I know how to judge you, for each destiny is incomprehensible to men. Thus, no one is censured or exposed before the others.

If some believe reincarnation is just a human theory and others believe it to be a new revelation, truly I say to you, that I began to make it known to the world since the beginning of humanity. You can find proof of this in the text of the Scriptures which are a testimony of My deeds.

However, during this period of time, this revelation has reached your spirit in a greater level of evolution, and shortly, it will be justly regarded as one of the most righteous and loving laws of the Creator.

Disregard the belief that you had about the “Day of Judgment”, which is not one of your own days, because it is a period of time; and the end of the world is not the end of the planet where you live, but of the egotistical life which you have created in it.

Truly I say to you: You are living the “Day of the Lord”. You are already under His justice. The living and the dead are being judged; past and present deeds are weighed on this scale. Open your eyes so you can be witnesses that the Divine justice is being felt everywhere.

Now is when you should remain strong, for the tempest has been unleashed and temptations besiege you at every turn. Abandon Sodom and Gomorrah, the sinful cities, and do not turn back, because they are inviting you, and now that you are liberated, do not fall back into their midst; it might be that by then, you might not have strength to withdraw from them. Proceed toward the city of peace without stopping; the one that will get to be established within your heart when the time comes.

How long will the judgment last? You do not know, but truly I say to you, that the time of purification will be shortened by My Divine charity.

Can You Really Sell Painting You Create?

Posted in Bestsellers by admin on the April 11th, 2008

A Review of Paint Red Hot Landscapes That Sell: A Sure-Fire Way to Stop Boring and Start Selling Everything You Paint in Oils

I have to admit that it was the title that attracted me to Paint Red Hot Landscapes that Sell, by Canadian artist Mike Svob. I mean, who doesn’t want to paint landscapes that sell?

But that is really the point of the book - creating artwork that triggers, as Svob puts it, “the buying response.” Although there are a lot of really beautiful paintings here - Svob is very much a modern Impressionist - this isn’t your typical art instruction book. His often writes in short paragraphs or bullet points, with just enough information to get his point across. I personally am a fan of this style, because I pay more attention to the pictures than the words, but some people are turned off by it.

His advice is brief and direct: use this palette, prepare your canvas with these tricks, incorporate these components to attract buyers.

Aside from the overt commercialism, his advice is very good, and addresses some topics that I have not seen in many other oil painting books - the importance of controlling edges, making your darks really dark to achieve strong contrast (imagine chiaroscuro meets Monet)- I think these are the things that truly make a exciting painting.

Nonetheless, I believe you have to be an intermediate to advanced artist to get the most out of this instruction book. There are a number of demonstrations, but they are rather high-level. He shows you what the major steps look like, but not the many in-between steps that are so crucial to the beginner. And you have to have your decent drawing and composition skills to produce the fairly detailed dark value underpaintings his style requires.

But overall, this is a quite an interesting and thought-provoking oil painting book, so it gets my recommendation.

Beware of eBook Promoters Who Scam People Online

Posted in Bestsellers by admin on the April 10th, 2008

There are both good and bad promoters of eBooks online. As a writer of a couple of eBooks and a few online articles, I get emails from people wishing to promote my eBook on their websites. The online marketers attempt to coax me into allowing them the use of my eBook on their website, including the pages and text, by promising to help me market my company, thru links back to my website.

Not be an egomaniac, but my company is very highly ranked under my target market keywords and has been since 1996. We know what we are doing and certainly do not need anyone’s help doing it. It just fries me all these worthless amateurs telling us they are going to promote our business. Not only do we not need anymore business, it is a slap in the face to think they can do it better than us, as we have been doing it and doing better than any of our competitors for a decade online.

The car wash fundraiser book that I wrote was written to help people, not market our company. I think most of the industry of Internet promoting eBook whores are sick, sure some are legitimate, but they are far and few between. Many are simply scum, they promote crap, put up garbage and hype all over the Internet so you cannot find anything when searching.

If eBook marketers put my book on their site, they lessen my number one Google Search Engine ranking “Car Wash Fundraisers” and re-direct traffic to their site. So they can sell junk on their site and re-direct customers who are interested in my “Free Online eBook” for some expensive hype eBook on how to make a million dollars in your underwear stuffing envelopes 2-hours a day; 3-days per week while watching the new and improved “Buns of Steal Video” and you can have all this and more with free Ginzu Knives if you order now; operators are standing by? Yah right!

Additionally many of these websites are very salesy and they sell crap and dupe people. My information is to help people not screw them into buying some inflated worthless trinkets on the Internet. I am fed up with this BS. And anyone who is legitimate on the Internet selling quality and informational eBooks ought to be upset as well.

If you are assisting folks who sell eBooks in anyway you need to be sure that the people you associate with, do not associate with other people who are scam artists. I hate scammers, they piss me off and sell crap on the Internet and trick people making it hard for real decent people on the Internet. You should be as pissed as I am, even though I am not selling anything on the Internet. I am sick and tired of worthless, spineless, weakness, scammers, promoters of trash on the Internet. Everywhere I look, more scam artists, selling crap, worthless junk.

In my case my eBook is free to the World and the information is real and comes from decades of knowledge; I do not want to promote a business, I want to “GIVE” information, “worthy information” to the world for “Free” what is wrong with that? Is it a crime to help people? Unfortunately for every one of the good folks out there with real world and worthy knowledge selling their eBooks or giving them away, there are 10 scammers selling hype and crap to anyone stupid enough to pay them. It seems everyone has some stupid profit motive in everything you do? What is deal here? Is that the way all everyone online thinks?

Why has everyone got me categorized for some worthless promoter of crap like them, simply because I write articles and submit them online? Many eBook promoters have attempted to recruit my writing talents, assuming that I would lower my standards of ethics and join them in some sort of online hype to scam people. I am not like them, how dare they assume that. Scum. I want these people to stay away from me. I do not want them around or associated with my noble efforts to help people, make them think or give them free information.

Recently sent back this email to an online eBook hype type marketer, who was so busy bragging about how he could promote anything, that he did not even hear what I said when I told him that I was not interested in the least. He kept emailing me so I sent him this email back:

“I am sorry I just cannot let this go, I am going to have to sound off; Listen you son of a bitch, I wrote that eBook about Car Wash Fundraisers to help people; youth sports teams and such which need funds desperately to help kids grow up learning values and team work. Not to promote my company.

For you to assume I that I wrote that book or any of my writings to help the world for the purpose of financial gain, really pisses me off. For you to even think for a second I would allow someone to promote my book and then pay me back for its use to help my company is an insult. Not everyone is so dis-genuine and thinks like you. I do not promote trinket shit on the Internet. Some of us want to help people. That’s what I think.”

There is nothing wrong with making a profit, but you have totally insulted me, this is the reason I will not ever do business with you. I wanted to make sure you knew the reason, because you seem to think that I would change my mind if I needed business. Let me tell you, if I was living in a paper box, I would have the same answer. You seem to believe that my motives and all business people have motives of only making money. How dare you categorize my noble intentions. Damn you, you son of a bitch, Thanks for listening.”

Dear World, just because I have written more online articles on the Internet than anyone else, that does not mean that I would lower my ethics to promote crap. If you are a scam artist stay the hell away from me or I will submit a certified and notorized complaint declaration to the FTC. And don’t for one minute think I won’t as I already have the forms ready and I have a notary at my bank, with a MBE next door to that to mail it from.

To all the honest, decent and hardworking writers and promotional article submitters, I salute you in all you do. I believe in you and your efforts to bring information to the human race and propel knowledge to the World. Please everyone keep the Internet clean. Think on this.
