Arizona Horseback Riding Is Beautiful and Enjoyable

The beauty of a state like Arizona is hard to match and it is one of our largest states with tremendous contrasts in culture as well as in scenery. It is the home of such world famous wonders as the Grand Canyon, the Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley. It is also a state with a strong cowboy culture and tradition with many old working ranches and some fine horses. The western saddle used by American cowboys today came to us from Spain via Mexico to Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and California. Arizona is also home to many Native American cultures like the Navajo which has preserved ancient traditions for centuries in arts like weaving and making jewelry.

In Arizona horseback riding is a wonderful way to see the country while practicing a delightful sport. There are some fine horses in the state and some wonderful terrain for fast gallops, but on horseback one can also get into the heart of the country at a leisurely pace and see some of the back country which other tourist seldom visit. Local people are far more likely to open up to horseback riders than to tourists cruising by in a bus. On a ride in Navajo country going through places like the Canyon de Chelly you can get a feel for the rich history of the Navajo Nation and see how much of their culture has been preserved for modern times.
