Hair Removal Procedures in London

Posted in Beauty Supplies by admin on the July 11th, 2009

The problem of unwanted hair growth has been around for centuries. People are willing to go to great lengths and expense to get rid of unwanted hair growth.

Below is a summary of hair removal procedures that can be found in London.

Shaving and Waxing - Shaving and waxing are two commonly used forms of hair removal. Shaving is pain free and consists of a razor cutting the hair off at the surface of the skin. The results only last for a very short period of time, such as a few days. Waxing pulls the hair out of the root and can be very painful, but the results may last for up to several weeks.

Creams- Creams, sometimes called depilatories, react with the protein structure of the hair to dissolve hair on the surface and the hair can then be wiped away. This process is quick and inexpensive, but can leave irritated skin and the results do not last much longer than shaving.

Electrolysis -This permanent process works on each hair individually to destroy the hair root with heat or chemical energy. Electrolysis can be a very time consuming and sometimes more painful experience than other forms of hair removal, however there are no permanent side effects associated with electrolysis.

Laser Hair Removal -The laser operates by passing a light beam over the skin which targets the darker pigment, melanin, and destroys the hair follicle with intense heat. Laser hair removal is a fairly quick process as it can target many hair follicles at one time. It is slightly painful and can leave skin irritated for a short time. It may require several treatments to remove the hair permanently, or in many cases, it only provides a hair reprieve, as the hair may still grow back over time so hair removal London procedures may need to be repeated.

How Do You Choose between Contact Lenses and Specs?

Posted in Beauty Supplies, Health Info by admin on the April 6th, 2009

While plenty of people still wear specs, there is no question that they’re on the way out. There is no doubt that positioning them into your eyes and then taking them out again can be frightening initially, but once you’re used to it they are lots more convenient than having bulky specs on your face, not to mention almost invisible, even to people who get up close to your eyes.

Vanity isn’t the only cause to use contacts, though. For a lot of people, it is simply much more practical - they work better for sport or any kind of manual work, for example, where specs could easily get damaged. contacts are also not subject to the many things that can go wrong with eyeglasses, such as smashing, fracturing, or being affected by the weather (when they get rained on, for example).

If you’re just entering the world of contacts, though, it can feel like a bit of a tangle. What should you decide on? Hard lenses or soft? Daily lenses or monthly? Each option comes with its rewards and disadvantages.

The easiest doubt to deal with is believably that of hard lens systems. While hard lenses are still employed in many sections of the planet, this is mainly down to grounds of habit - people who are already using them are unlikely to switch over. To the new user, hard lenses offer no advantages, and they are incredibly awkward until you get used to them. It is much better to simply go with soft lenses.

When it comes to the doubt of whether daily disposable lens systems are better, however, there is some dispute. Once you factor in the price of cleaning solutions for monthly lenses, there is little divergence in cost, but some people simply prefer not to buy and throw away so many lenses. In The End, though, daily disposables tend to be thinner and therefore more comfortable, as well as costing you less if you happen to lose one, which makes them better suited to the beginner.

Are You a Good Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

Posted in Beauty Supplies, Health Info by admin on the August 13th, 2008

Porcelain veneers are a great solution for many people with crooked or damaged teeth - but are not necessarily a viable option for others.

If your teeth are crooked or misaligned; if they have become worn or slightly chipped over the years; if your teeth have become stained due to consumption of coffee, tea, red wine or tobacco use; you may be a good candidate for porcelain veneers, provided that your dentition is otherwise structurally sound and in good dental health.

However, there are patients for whom the use of porcelain veneers is not a viable option. At best, they would be a waste of time and money, and at worst could actually cause harm. Some of the individuals may ultimately be helped with porcelain veneers, but only after other conditions have been addressed.

It is important to understand that porcelain veneers can only be placed on healthy teeth that are embedded in healthy gums. Teeth that have been weakened because of neglect or sudden injury or have lost a substantial amount of their surface enamel may require crowns rather than veneers.

People who suffer from diseased gums are also not good candidates for porcelain veneers. Any conditions requiring gum treatment, root canal work or anything else connected with the dental foundation must be addressed prior the use of veneers.

Finally, those who suffer from a high degree of stress and regularly grind their teeth as a result will not benefit from porcelain veneers. Tooth grinding, or bruxism, will simply cause expensive veneers to become chipped or broken.

Incidentally, there are those who already have attractive, healthy teeth, but decide to get porcelain veneers anyway because they seek absolute perfection. In fact, absolutely perfect teeth do not exist naturally in anyone’s mouth. If you are among the fortunate whose teeth are essentially straight and stain-free, you’ll find that the risks, maintenance and expense associated with veneers will not necessarily make a good thing better.

The Facts About Cosmetic Surgery

Posted in Beauty Supplies by admin on the June 8th, 2008

Cosmetic surgery is big business now, the advances of science and technology meaning it has become more affordable and much more accessible for anyone to consider it. Far from breast enhancements being the only option anymore, there are operations that can be done on virtually any part of your body to aesthetically enhance your appearance. Getting the ‘body beautiful’ has never been such a viable option as it is now.

Types of cosmetic surgery.

Reading any daily newspaper (usually the tabloids) will give a good indication as to the types of cosmetic surgery that are available. It seems that nearly every popular celebrity has had Botox injections or a face-lift to improve their appearance but cosmetic surgery isn’t just about improving your appearance to ‘fit in’. Disfigurations can have a detrimental effect on many people’s lives, and cosmetic surgery is a reasonable answer to the psychological problems that can accompany them.

Acne scar removal is a relatively simple operation and can change lives in a matter of weeks. Pierced ear repair and tattoo removal are also becoming very popular as more and more young adults are having body piercing and tattoos only to want them removed later in life.

Then, of course, there are the physical changes that some people feel are required to keep them at the peak of their physical appearance. Botox, (curiously enough, was originally a form of germ warfare!) , has become very popular as Botox injections are considerably cheaper than having surgical lifts. Botox works by temporarily paralysing muscles and fixing parts of the body in certain positions. It can be effectively used to remove laughter lines or wrinkles but is only temporary so regular visits are needed to keep the appearance they give.

Breast enhancement and reduction are as popular as ever with women, and many breast cancer victims have breast-rebuilding treatment in order to regain their natural body shapes and confidence. Face lifts help mask the natural signs of aging by pulling the skin tight and removing wrinkles and bags. Tummy tucks, Rhinoplasty (the political correct version of a nose job) and Liposuction are also available. These are a few of the more popular versions of cosmetic surgery but if there is a part of your body you aren’t happy with there is bound to be a surgeon somewhere that can do what is required.

Is cosmetic surgery safe?

Unfortunately, due to the money involved in cosmetic surgery, there have been a number of more unscrupulous ’surgeons’ offering their services at reduced costs. These surgeons usually have little or no qualifications and avoiding them is the most important thing you can do if considering cosmetic surgery.

Selecting the right clinic can take time, and definitely isn’t something you should rush into. Always select a clinic that boasts recognised qualifications; a little research on the Internet will tell you whether a qualification has been earned, bought or simply printed. Only consider using a clinic that offers a one-on-one with a surgeon before operating. They should be able to advise you on all aspects of your chosen surgery from the benefits, the look and feel, the actual operation and any side affects that may be associated with it. If they don’t offer this, then you should reconsider using that particular clinic.

What should I ask my surgeon?

You may have a little knowledge or you may have a lot of knowledge about your chosen surgery, but you should always research a little yourself before you visit the clinic for your one-on-one. Know what you are stepping into. By looking on the Internet and perhaps ringing around several clinics asking for information you will probably be presented with a few questions you want to ask. Do not be afraid to ask the questions, no matter how trivial or how stupid they seem.

There are a number of questions you should always ask a surgeon or a clinic before you make that all-important final decision. These questions should include, but not be limited to, asking about any side effects. If you are told there are no side effects you should be very wary indeed. Consider the side effects on a tub of painkillers you can buy over the counter. The list is seemingly endless, and having cosmetic surgery will undoubtedly have a longer list of potential side effects than taking a couple of Paracetemol. Question your surgeon about his experience and qualifications. Usually the certificates will be framed on the wall of their office, if not, do not be afraid to ask. A reputable surgeon will be only to please to show you his certificates.

Ask how long the treatment will take and how much time will be needed to recover. Ask is there are any alternatives, surgical or non-surgical. Once you have all the facts you will be in a position to make a better informed and accurate decision.

The bottom line on cosmetic surgery.

Many people consider and have cosmetic surgery and the decrease in price has brought with it a wider array of potential treatments. Surgery isn’t always necessary but, if you have your heart set on it, then be sure to thoroughly research every aspect of your treatment, the clinic you intend to use and the surgeon who will carry out the procedure. Ask plenty of questions about experience, qualification and side effects. Once you have all the knowledge, and if you are sure you want to proceed then at least you know you have done as much as possible to make sure your cosmetic surgery is done safely.

Botox Injections: A Closer Look

Posted in Beauty Supplies by admin on the June 1st, 2008

Just about everyone has, at one time or another, heard about Botox Injections.
Botox is the most popular non-invasive procedure on the market today because the
Benefits of Botox are great with little risk involved.

Botox blocks your nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that
cause wrinkles. This will give your skin a smoother, more rejuvenated
appearance. That is all and well, but what are the draw backs to Botox? The only
drawbacks are almost non existent when weighed with the obvious benefit of
reducing the appearance of age defining wrinkles. Your Botox injection may take
15 years worth of wrinkles off your neck or face, but regrettably, it will
certainly not last forever. You will have to receive further injections on a
fairly regular basis. Around every four months you will need to go back in and
get a refresher injection. Some people choose to turn this into an advantage by
converting the cosmetic procedure into a social event called a Botox party. A
Botox party is in essence, a group of people sharing the Botox experience with
one another usually for company over the simple joy of finger food in a catered
lobby of a lucky doctor. Sharing your exsperiance may help to ease some of the
fear involved with trying something new. You are also able to see live Before
and After demonstrations. If after all of this you still are not pleased with
your youthful new appearance, then you are in luck because the drawback is also
your advantage. You will not have a terribly long wait for the effects to wear
off.

Botox is very safe when administered by a competent professional in a medical
setting. Botox injections are for good reason the fastest-growing cosmetic
procedure in the industry, according to the American Society for Aesthetic
Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). In 2001, more than 1.6 million people received
injections, an increase of 46 percent over the previous year. Botox has been FDA
approved since April 2002 and was found to officially reduce the severity of
frown lines for up to 120 days.

Tummy Tuck Scars

Posted in Beauty Supplies by admin on the May 18th, 2008

Will Tummy Tuck Scars Remain Visible?

The scars that are present after a tummy tuck operation are usually not as bad as one would expect. These tummy tuck scars are often hidden below the swimsuit or underwear line so others cannot see them while you are in a bathing suit. If you are worried about tummy tuck scars, be sure to consult an experienced doctor. A doctor who has performed many of these operations in the past will be good at concealing tummy tuck scars by either performing the procedure better or by removing the scars afterward. A tummy tuck procedure does not require many incisions, so if done by an experienced doctor, you should not have any problems.

Tummy tuck operations require one long incision directly above the pubic area. This first incision will run from hip bone to hip bone, and is the main incision that the doctors will work from. In addition to this incision, a second one may be made at or around the belly button. The second incision is usually not necessary for only a partial tummy tuck operation. Also, if the patient decides to only undergo a partial procedure the initial cut may not be as long either. This is why some people decide to go for the partial tummy tuck, as opposed to the full thing. Again, your doctor will be able to provide you with the advantages and disadvantages of both.

If you get an experienced doctor these scars will almost always fade over time. They also tend to flatten out as your body starts to heal. In most cases these scars eventually come nearly invisible with just a hint left behind.

Tummy tuck scars are not that big of a deal. They are usually below the swimsuit line, and also fade and disappear as time goes on. Do not let the thought of tummy tuck scars stop you from having this operation.

A Quick Look at Sunless Tanning

Posted in Beauty Supplies by admin on the May 12th, 2008

Sunless tanning, also known as indoor tanning, is becoming much popular these days. As the term implies, sunless tanning is the process of attaining a suntan by sunless means. The main reason behind the popularity of sunless tanning is that there are several people who live in a place where constant sunshine is not available and most of the people cannot afford such a vacation every month to top up their tans. Another reason why people are more attracted with sunless tanning is that the regular and constant exposure to the sun rays increases the chances of contracting skin cancer. Sunless tanning offers several harmless and easy ways for people to achieve the desired result.

Sunless tanning can take the form of tanning lotions, tanning sprays, tanning beds, and tanning pills. The results and efficiency of these methods differs from one another. Let us look on the four main sunless tanning methods:

Sunless Tanning Lotion

Majority of the sunless tanning lotions come with the bronzing ingredient dihydroxyacetone (DHA). DHA is a colorless sugar which can interact with dead skin cells resulting in a color change to that skin. Generally this change in color lasts for five to seven days from the initial application. Using sunless tanning lotions is a well liked method for sunless tanning. However, the only drawback is that, getting an even tan is very difficult.

Spray Tanning

Spray tanning is also the same as tanning lotion; the only difference is that tanning solution used here is a spray. Spray tanning can be done manually by a spray gun. If you wish to use it automatically then you can go for a tanning booth. A recent development in spray tanning is the colorless tanning solution. The solution does not have bronzer and affords a less streaky, more even tan.

Tanning Beds

Tanning beds, also known as sunbeds, feature fluorescent tubesto tan the applicants’ skin by emitting UV (Ultraviolet) Rays. Though, tanning beds are considered as an efficient sunless tanning method, continuous use of this method can cause skin cancer and skin aging.

Tanning Pills

Tanning pills usually comes in three varieties - pills which contain caretenoid pigments, pills which contain tyrosine, and pills with no active ingredients. Tanning pills which contain caretenoid pigments when consumed internally saturates the fat layers just below the skin, which results in the change in skin color. The other two varieties of tanning pills are not proven to have any desired effect on the color of the skin.

The cost of sunless tanning methods differs from just a few bucks to $100 or even more for one or more visit in a tanning salon. However, with sunless tanning you can easily achieve that beautiful bronzed look without damaging your skin.

We have made a research to find the best tanning methods. Find the results only on the Indoor tanning lotions reviewed and other sunless tanning products info. All about sunless tanning on LeanderNet - http://www.leandernet.com
